Since joining the firm in 2013, Michael has focused his practice on representing individuals, business owners, and families with respect to estate planning, tax planning, and business succession planning. Corporate transactions and asset protection planning are also part of Michael’s practice. He has extensive experience in the areas of elder law, estate and trust administration, charitable and philanthropic planning, and special needs planning.
Michael enjoys working with families and family-owned businesses, in order to advise his clients on how best to navigate the various issues that arise regarding the transition of wealth between generations. Accordingly, Michael regularly works with not only his clients but also their advisers, including CPAs and financial advisors, to ensure that a team approach is used in order to achieve his clients’ ultimate goals while also protecting them throughout the process.
Michael dedicates his time through his volunteer work with institutions that have personal relevance to him, including through the Restful Nights Program at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (the “James”) where he visits with patients and their families at the James. Michael has also participated in and/or fundraised for Pelotonia, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, as well as the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. He also served as a tutor for underprivileged Chicago-area youth for over six (6) years and served on the Board of the Chicago Lights Tutoring Program.
Michael has been invited to speak throughout the Central Ohio community on the topics of estate planning as well as elder abuse, neglect and exploitation.
